A website can
be a very important part of your marketing plan. When you are designing
your site, keep in mind some of these details.
First Impressions...
Your website in many cases is your first impression with your customer.
Try to make sure that it feels the same as the rest of your business.
Colour schemes, font size and styles and company logos are all important.
Remember that your website should be the best salesman you have.
After all, it is on the job 24/7.
Consistency...
Text styles, colours and size should stay uniform throughout your
site.
Home Page
and Site Design...
Think about keeping your home page as simple as possible. The nature
of the internet is to link to other pages. The best idea is to create
a separate page for each area of your business. Your goal on the
home page and most other pages as well is to make sure the customer
does not have to scroll (move the page up) to see all of the information
on the page.
Search Engines...
You may leave out the hidden keywords, description and page title
from your pages but it will hurt your result position in not only
the Acorg Inc search engines but most other commercial search engines
as well. Acorg is currently developing an online "search engine
submission" module to assist you in getting listed elsewhere
as well. Submit your site to other search engines but make sure
not to over-submit or they might ban you from their listings. Search
Engine Optimization is a good idea if you are serious about getting
the most from your website. My best advice is to do a little research.
This topic is well discussed and there are many mailing lists and
newsgroups you can join to get some veteran advice.
Keeping it
Updated...
Make sure that your information is up to date. Customers will see
that you are interested in your website and in them.
Use it in
your marketing...
Put your website address everywhere you would put your phone number.
You can't say or show everything your business does in a traditional
media ad but you can with your website.
Email your
customers...
Don't forget that you likely know some things that your customer
would like to know. Mailing lists can keep your customers informed
of new products or services. Opt-In email programs like newsletters
are very successful and almost free
